Austin Christopher D’Acenzo

Austin Christofer D'Ascenzo, 86, of Galveston died Wednesday, April 18, 2007 at Gulf Health Care Center in Galveston. Private family services will be held at St. George Episcopal Church, 518 13th Ave. N, Texas City, Texas at a later date.
Mr. D'Ascenzo was born October 12, 1920 in Galveston, Texas to Gurieno D'Ascenzo and Susie Peña D'Ascenzo. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army Air Corps serving in WWII. During his time overseas he was stationed in England where he met and married the love of his life Leah Ellis. Moving back to the United States they returned to Galveston and started their family. He was a furniture salesman with the Plantowsky Furniture Company for over 19 years. He was a member of the Mainland Lodge # 2141 of the Benevolent and Protective Order of Elk's, a past member of the Noon Optimist Club and of the Episcopal Faith.
Preceded in death by his parents and brother, Nito D’Ascenzo he is survived by his former wife, Leah Ellis D’Ascenzo of Texas City; daughters, Christine Adele D'Ascenzo of Texas City, and Cynthia D'Ascenzo-Davis of Oxford, Mississippi; grandson, Field Austin Davis of Hattiesburg, Mississippi; sisters, Blanche Fleming of Pasadena, Texas and Cira D’Ascenzo of Galveston; numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
