Partnership Hosts Houston International Festival Business Conference   
“Today and Tomorrow for Houston and China”
 
HOUSTON – The Greater Houston Partnership will host the nation’s leading experts on China’s economy during a business conference on Friday, April 20, 2007, at the Hyatt Regency Houston hotel.
 
The Houston region is well positioned to take advantage of the rapidly growing trade between the United States and China. The conference provides a platform for participants to hear about ways to gain entry into one of the world’s most dynamic economies. In addition to an overview of China’s economy, the conference will feature presentations on opportunities in the energy and biomedical sectors, and a keynote address on currency valuation, a vital aspect of U.S.–China trade.
 
Speakers include Minister Zheng Zeguang – Deputy Chief of Mission, Embassy of the People’s Republic of China in the United States; Hon. David A. Sampson – Deputy Secretary of the U.S. Department of Commerce; Hon. Tim Adams – Under Secretary for International Affairs, U.S. Department of Treasury; Dr. Donald Straszheim – Renowned expert on China’s economy and currently vice chairman, Roth Capital Partners, LLC, previously the global chief economist for Merrill Lynch and Co. and president of the Milken Institute, an economic policy think tank; Mr. Carlos Kenda – Sr. Vice President for China and Middle Asia, National Oilwell Varco; Dr. Stephen Aldrich – President, Bio Economic Research Associates and noted expert on renewable fuels development in China; and a Chinese delegation, led by Vice Mayor, Shenzhen; Vice Chairman, Dalian People's Congress and Vice Chairman of Tianjin Binhai New Area Administrative Commission, will also be presenting on business opportunities in their respective regions.
