Loretta Ardella WinwoodMrs. Loretta Ardella Winwood passed from this life Thursday, May 3, 2007, in Texas City.

 

Born September 5, 1916 in Rankin, PA, Mrs. Winwood had been a resident of Algoa for 17 years, previously of Jasper and Hitchcock.  She had been employed as a sales clerk with Weiner’s Department Store in Texas City and Jasper for over 30 years, a cafeteria worker at Hitchcock ISD, owner of A & K Novelties and Ceramics, a member of Grace Bible Church of Hitchcock, the Hitchcock Lioness Club and was an avid baseball fan. 

 

She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Albert Walter Winwood, Sr.; parents, William Horacio and Mary A. (Marks) Johns; 5 brothers and 3 sisters.

Survivors include her sons, Albert Walter Winwood, Jr. and wife, Kay of Santa Fe, Howard Karl Winwood and wife, Karon of Alvin; daughters, Karen Sue Rosser and husband, Stanley Gale of Santa Fe, Janet Denise Turner and husband, Tom of Houston; 11 grandchildren, 8 great-grandchildren; brother, Kenneth E. Johns and wife, Sally of Albuquerque, NM.

 

Funeral services will be conducted 2:00 p.m. Saturday, May 5, 2007, in the chapel of Hayes Funeral Home with Pastor J. Keith Broyles officiating.  Interment will follow at GraceMemorialParkCemetery.

 

Casketbearers will be Mark Hallows, Albert Walter Pierce, Holt David Pierce, Matthew Rosser, Clint Winwood and Tylor Winwood.

 

Friends may call from 5 - 8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home, 10412 Highway 6, (409) 925-3501.

 

Those who wish may make memorials in the form of donations to the American Cancer Society, P. O. Box 129, Texas City, TX 77592-0129 and/or the American Heart Association, 10060 Buffalo Speedway, Houston, TX 77054 and/or Amed Hospice, 8901 Emmett F. Lowry Expwy, Ste. B, Texas City, TX 77591.
