Vernelda "Ruth" MorseVernelda  “Ruth” Morse, 74, passed away Saturday, May 5, 2007 at JohnSealyHospital in Galveston, Texas.  Funeral services will be held at 10:00 am, Wednesday, May 9, 2007 at Carnes Brothers Funeral Home in Galveston, Texas with Rev. James Lewis officiating. Graveside services will follow at GraceMemorialCemetery in Hitchcock, Texas. The family will receive visitors from 5:00 to 8:00 pm at the funeral home, Tuesday, May 8, 2007.

Ruth was born on January 29, 1933 to Robert Leon Lisbony, Sr. and Ella Ruth Thurmond Lisbony in Galveston, Texas. She was an avid bowler and a life long member of the Galveston Women's Bowling Association, in which she held various offices.  She was inducted in the GWBA Hall of Fame in 1987 and a member of the 600 Club of the GWBA.   She bowled in numerous tournments throughout the State, which included the State Tournaments and also the National Bowling Tournaments.  She started working at the Island Bowl Lanes on 35th and Seawall Blvd in the early 1980's, which became part of her life. ,  She was night manager for Island Bowl at the time of her death. She loved animals and for relaxation she liked to watch TV court cases.  Having no children of her own, she loved her nieces and nephews and took pride in watching them grow.

Preceded in death by her parents, sister, Eunice Hinesley and  brothers, Robert S. Lisbony and J. B. Lisbony.  She is survived by her brothers, Robert L. “Boney” Lisbony, Jr. and wife, Mary Lee of Athens, Texas, Walter Charles Lisbony and wife, Becky of Galveston and Morris Clayton Lisbony and wife, Paula of Mont Belvieu, Texas; numerous nieces and nephews and many friends.

The family would like to thank close friends Annie Lin,  Berry, and Duane Risinger for their loving friendship for Ruth during their long association as employers and close friends.

Honorary pallbearers are Steven M. Lisbony, Brian P. Lisbony, Michael McVey, Geoffrey Roberts, Brandon Vanda, Vincent Sorrentino, Sr.

Memorials may be made to your favorite charity, or to the American Cancer Society.
