Ernest Joseph Lemons
E. R. Johnson Family Mortuary

Ernest Joseph Lemons, Sr.Ernest Joseph Lemons, Sr., 64, departed this life on Saturday, May 5, 2007, at Clear Lake Regional Medical Center.

Ernest was born January 29, 1943, in Galveston, Texas. He attended public school in Galveston and graduated from Central High School. He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy and an U. S. Postal employee for 15 years in Hitchcock, TX, where he resided for 17 years until retiring and moving back home to his native Galveston where he grew up to care for his mother. He was an active member in his church St. Augustine of Hippo in Galveston, acting as choir director a member of the church vestry and all around fix it man at the church and loved to cook breakfast on Sundays.

Preceded in death by his parents Charles Lemons, Sr. Louise Lemons-Lewis and Theodore Lewis, Sr. brothers: John Kenneth, Harold and Ray Lemons, Sr. sisters: Audrey, Sara M. and Barbara Lucille Lemons and niece, Pamela Lemons- Mathews
 
Ernest leaves to cherish his memories with his sons Ernest J. Lemons Jr. (Freddie Mae), Anthony B. Lemons and Jeffrey Lemons, daughters, LaShonda Lemons Johnson (Earl), Ann Maudester Austin Lemons, and Jo Ann; grandchildren: Sgt. Mary L. Lemons-Watson (Jaaeel),Seaman Ernest J. Lemons III (Amanda), Michael E. Lemons, Samuel Lemons, Pastel Johnson, and Tyrae Johnson, Cheyenne, Shardae, England, Durrell, Atwann, Isaiah Caleb and Cameron Lemons; brothers, Charles Lemons Jr. (Roylene)of Galveston, Theodore L. Lewis, Jr. (Martha) of Charleston, SC and Joseph L. Lewis (Olivia) of Houston; sister, Janie Lewis Richardson (Frederick) of Galveston; special nieces Babette Lemons, Audrey Callis-Henry, Shalea Callis, and numerous other nieces nephews, relatives and friends.

Due to renovation to the E. R. Johnson facility, viewing will begin at 4PM on Friday, May 11th followed by a wake from 7-8PM in the chapel of Fields Funeral Services, (2702 Avenue L) . Funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday May 12, 2007, at the St. Augustness Episcopal Church (41st and M ½), Burial will follow at Lakeview Cemetery.  Under the direction of E R Johnson Family Mortuary
