Frances departed this life at M.D. Anderson Hospital, Houston.
She courageously fought ovarian cancer for 17 years and was surrounded by family at her death. She was born in Shreveport, LA and graduated from Buffalo State Teacher's College with a B.A. in biology and geology. Her career included teaching and medical research until 1976, when she and her sons co-founded Fabian Seafood Company in Galveston.
Frances is preceded in death by her father, William Baker; her mother, Eunice Benway; and her husband, Frank J. Fabian.
Frances is survived by sisters, Patricia Baker Portie, Spring, TX and Betty Baker, Shreveport, LA; Uncle Ralph Hair, Shreveport; by sons: Stephen Fabian, Galveston; David Fabian, Houston; Dr. John Fabian, Buffalo, NY; Daniel Fabian, Galveston; Thomas Fabian, Galveston; daughters: Patricia Fabian Gian Paakkonen, Helsinki, Finland; Catherine Fabian Nielsen, Galveston; 13 grandchildren: Cheryl, Shanna, Michael and Kelly Nielsen; Sarah Gian Jones, Justin, Anastasia and Jonathan Gian and Katariina Paakkonen; Natalie and Daniel Fabian; Ashley and Sarah Fabian; 2
great-grandchildren: Alexander and Jack Jones; her best friend and soul mate, Michael DeMoss, and very special friends, Jose Gallardo, John Murphy and Ann Harris, Galveston; and numerous other relatives and friends.
