Nancy Carolyn Dunn
Malloy & Son Funeral Home

Nancy Carolyn Dunn was born September 10, 1937 in West Texas, the only child of Jack and Mary Davis.  She passed away on May 13, 2007.  Nancy had been battling cancer for two years.

The family will receive visitors from 5:00 until 7:00 pm, Thursday, May 17th, at Malloy & Son Funeral Home.  A celebration of Nancy’s life will be held at 12:00 noon Friday, May 18th, at the funeral home.  Private burial will follow the service at Galveston Memorial Park in Hitchcock.

Nancy was raised in Ballinger, Texas.  She attended Abilene Christian College where she met her future husband, Tom Dunn.  She received her degree from the University of Houston after marrying Tom in 1957.  Nancy taught elementary school at Island/Parker Elementary for 28 years.  She had a passion for learning and made that feeling contagious.  She loved nothing more than seeing a child learn something new.  Nancy was a gifted teacher who truly cared about her students and their families.

Nancy is survived by her daughter, Diane D. Collings; son-in-law, Paul R. Collings; brother-in-law, John R. Dunn, Jr.; sister-in-law, Jean Dunn; nieces, Barbara Ruhl and Catherine Williams; and nephew, Ross Dunn.  She is also survived by many cousins, special lifelong friends, and her students.

Nancy was preceded in death by Tom, her husband of 49 years.  They are together once again.

To celebrate Nancy’s lifelong passion of reading, memorial contributions may be made in her name in the form of a donation or library book to either the Rosenberg Library, 2310 Sealy St., Galveston, TX 77550; or to Parker/Island Elementary Library, 6802 Jones Drive, Galveston, TX 77551.
