Gregory J. Phillips

Gregory J. Phillips, 49, departed this life on Tuesday, May 15, 2007, at Gulf Health Care Center in Galveston.
Gregory was born on August 16, 1957, to the union of Willie and Carrie Pillar Phillips. A lifelong resident of Galveston, he attended public school here and was a 1975 graduate of BallHigh School. He was a longtime employee of the Parks and Recreation Department before his health failed. Gregory had a loving and caring spirit and will be greatly missed.
He was preceded in death by his parents and sister, Thelma Snaden.
He is survived by his aunts, Ruth Ellen Caligone, Helena Lewis, Erma M. Phillips, Mary June Phillips and Beaulah Phillips; nephews, Robert Bell, Jr. and Hurtice Bell; nieces, Lena Alford, Cordia Johnson and Helen Bell; devoted cousins, Cedrick and Lloyd Phillips, Jr., Andrew and Melvin White, Ulysses, Bert A., Jonathan D., Phillip, Willie and John Williams, Joseph Caligone and Clarence Smith, Bettina Evans, Kesha Mitchell, Jessie Fletcher, Lynda Moses, Lisa Phillips, Wanda Waire, Felicia Caldwell and LaQuisha Hatter; his stepbrothers and sisters; special family friend, Elizabeth Temple and a host of other relatives and friends.
Viewing will begin at 10AM on Saturday, May 19, 2007, followed by funeral service at 1:30 P.M. in the chapel of E. R. Johnson Family Mortuary with Rev. Nathaniel Brown, officiating. Burial will follow at LakeviewCemetery.
