Geneva Hernandez

Geneva Hernandez, 80, of Texas City, passed away peacefully, surrounded by her family, Wednesday, May 16, 2007, at Gulf Healthcare Center in Texas City.

 

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held 10 a.m., Monday, May 21, at St. Mary of the Miraculous Medal Catholic Church in Texas City, officiated by Father Tom Ponzini.  Burial will follow at Mt. Olivet Cemetery in Dickinson. Visitation will be 5 p.m. until 7 p.m. Sunday, with a Rosary beginning at 7 p.m., at Emken-Linton Funeral Home in Texas City.

 

Mrs. Hernandez was born March 26, 1927 in Texas City.  She was a member of St. Mary of the Miraculous Medal Catholic Church.

 

Survivors include her husband of 30 years, Simon Hernandez, of Texas City; sons Frank, Don Carl and Cecilio Olivares; daughter Rachael Ramirez (Santiago); brothers Santiago Velasquez II, Joe E. Velasquez, and Joe Cruz Pena; sisters Isabel Ortiz and Mary Cruz Melchor; 11 grandchildren, numerous great-grandchildren, other relatives and friends.

 

Pallbearers will be Santiago Ramirez, Sr., Santiago Ramirez, Jr., Jarman Olivares, Nick Vasquez, Joe Mendez, and David Ortiz, Jr.
