William L. “Shine” Johnson, Jr., 63, departed this life on Wednesday, May 23, 2007, at his residence. 
 
William was born November 28, 1943, in Vallejo, CA and later moved to Galveston with his family. He attended public school in Galveston and was retired from the Moody Cotton Compress.
He was preceded in death by his father, William L. Johnson, Sr.; stepfather, Lester Washington and two sisters, Gladys Smith and Irma J. Tapscott.

He leaves with cherish memories of his life with his wife, Gloria Curry Johnson; son, Darnell Curry (Trice); daughters, Alfreda Gross, Debra Curry and Cathy Curry (James); his mother, Edna Mae Washington; ten grandchildren and three great grandchildren; brother, Tyrone L. Washington; sisters, Esther Washington Thomas (Wayne), Yvonne Leonard and Clara Hilton Brown; uncle, Oscar Hilton; sisters in law, Dorothy Cade, Maxine Hightower and Erma Turner; devoted friend, Lloyd J. Scurry; Godmother, Rev. J. J. Hilton,; God brothers, Robert, James, Herman and Jimmy Hilton; God sisters, Lena Smith and Lee Ruthie Goins; host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Viewing will begin at 9AM on Saturday, May 26, 2007, followed by funeral service at 11:00A.M. in the chapel of E. R. Johnson Family Mortuary, with Rev. A.S. Johnson, officiating. Burial will follow at LakeviewCemetery.
