Galveston Memorial Day Weekend 2007
Texas Department of Transportation - Bolivar Ferry

The Texas Department of Transportation reports that five ferry boats are in operation today, and four of five vessels will be in use for the remainder of the weekend.  Listen  Download

"We expect fairly high traffic," said Mark L. Rodriguez, engineer and maintenance supervisor for the Galveston-Port Bolivar Ferry System.  "We are geared up, our landings are operational, our ferry vessels are operational and we are going to do everything we can to make it a safe and pleasurable traveling weekend. 

Rodriguez said problems with the design of the new ferry landings "are in the process of being resolved."
