Mary B. Stinson
Wynn Funeral Home

Mrs. Mary B. Stinson departed this life on Wednesday, May 23, 2007 at her residence.  She slept away in sweet peace.  Mrs. Stinson was born December 22, 1927, to the union of Sam Layton and Addie Lewis-Layton of Plain Dealing, Louisiana.   

Mrs. Stinson came to know the Lord and began her singing career at an early age.  She sang with many choirs and church groups .  She was educated in Plain Dealing.

She met Lemuel Stinson when he was 20 and she was the tender age of 15.   They married in 1942 and moved to Galveston in 1948.  

After moving to Galveston, Mrs. Stinson and her husband worked many jobs which included her employment at UTMB where she retired after 30 years of service. After her retirement, she continued her life as a housewife and mother and dedicated her life to the service of the Lord.  She loved to sit on her front porch and pray.  She spoke to everyone who passed by and her neighbors loved visiting with her on a daily basis. 

Mrs. Stinson was preceded in death by her husband, Lemuel Stinson Sr., her parents and her son, Lemuel Stinson, Jr.

She leaves to mourn her loss her sons, Michael Leon (Elaine); Bernard; Elliston (Patricia); Jerome (Pamela); daughters, Elona Herron (Emanuel); Jerusha Robinson (Willie); Eunice Lott (Calvin); a host of grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, many other relatives, friends and special friends, the

Sanders, Morgan, Sanchez,Washington and 33rd Street Neighborhood families. 

Visitation will be held from 3 to 5:00 p.m. at Wynn Funeral Home on Friday, June 1, 2007 and will continue at St. John Baptist Church from 6 to 7:00 p.m.followed by a wake from 7 to 8:30 p.m., at the church.

The Homegoing Celebration will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, June 2, 2007 at St. John Baptist Church.  Reverend Taylor Archie will officiate.  Burial will follow at Galveston Memorial Park Cemetery in Hitchcock.
