Members of Galveston Historical Foundation's African American Heritage and Education Committee held a dress rehearsal for the Underground Railroad Re-enactment Program "Making of the Underground Railroad: From Slavery to Freedom," which will be part of the Galveston Juneteenth celebration on June 14 from 8:30 to 3:30.
The line-up of characters includes Harriet Tubman, Box Brown, Frederick Douglass and many other nationally known in the Underground Railroad movement but this year also features Lavinia Bell, a slave who worked in the cottonfields near Galveston. Release
