Willie Mae Thompson

Willie Mae ThompsonMs. Willie Mae Thompson, calmly and softly answered her call to leave her earthly home and enter into the waiting arms of Jesus, with her family at her bedside at U.T.M.B.Hospital on June 17, 2007.

She entered her blessed journey on March 5, 1931 into the hearts of Will and Nobie Mae Stephens in Heflin, LA.  She accepted Christ at an early age at St. JohnDivineBaptistChurch in Heflin, LA. She graduated from NeboSchool in Dubberly, LA. In 1948, Willie Mae moved to Galveston where she married Claude Thompson. Through this union four sons were born Stanley Claude, Leslie, Victor Wayne, and John Kevin Thompson. While raising and serving her family, she entered vocational nursing school through JohnSealyHospital, where she was employed until 1965, then transferred to St. Mary’s Hospital where she retired in 1994.  She was a proud member of the Greater Mt. Calvary Baptist Church in Galveston
 
She was preceded in death by her parents, son, Stanley C. Thompson; brother, Oliver Louis (O.L.) Stephens; and sister, Lena Mae York. 
           
She leaves to cherish her memory and legacy of love, three sons, Leslie and John Kevin Thompson of Galveston; Victor Wayne Thompson of Texas City; daughter (granddaughter), Tonya Hambrick of New Orleans, LA; sisters, Sallie Mae Charles (Milan) of Houston, TX and Beatrice Stephens of Bossier City, LA; brother, Willie Leroy Stephens (Ann) of Boston, MA; grandsons, Stephen Wayne and Bertrell Thompson of Texas City, TX; Stanley G Thompson of Huntsville, TX, and Dontrell Sanders of Galveston,TX; granddaughters, Victoria, Priscilla, and Destinie Thompson of Texas City, TX; Krystal, LaQuita Banks and Lisa Sanders of Galveston, TX.

Viewing will begin at 5PM on Thursday, June 21st followed by a wake from 7-8PM at E R Johnson Family Mortuary. A service celebrating her life will be held at 1:00 PM on Friday, June 22, 2007, at the Greater Mt. Calvary Baptist Church with Pastor Timothy Allen, Sr. officiating. Graveside service will be held on Saturday, June 23rd at 2:00 PM at the MooreCemetery in Helfin, LA.
