Myrtle (Mert) Lee Rhone
Wynn Funeral Home

Myrtle Lee (Mert) Richardson Rhone of Galveston passed away following a long bout with pulmonary disease at St. Joseph's Hospital in Houston on June 20, 2007.  Mert had been a pianist for a number of island churches for many years.  She had also been a 38 year employee of the former Eibands Department Store in downtown Galveston.

Mert had a warm, fun-loving and outgoing personality which enabled her to befriend everyone that she met.  She is survived by her daughters, Vanessa T. Guidry and Robin P. Rhone and granddaughters, Fellman Marie Guidry and Ra Von Lee Rhone of Galveston plus a host of other relatives and friends.

Visitation will be held from 12 noon to 7:00 p.m. on Sunday, June 24, 2007 followed by an "hour of reflection and praise" from 7:00-8:00 p.m. at Wynn Funeral Home.

The Homegoing Celebration will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, June 25, 2007 at ShilohAMEChurch, 29th and Martin Luther King Boulevard, Galveston, Texas.  Reverend Eric Billips will officiate.

Interment will follow at LakeviewCemetery.
