Alecia Batiste Horn

Alecia Batiste HornAlecia Batiste Horn, 59, received her reward of eternal rest on Friday, June 15, 2007, at her residence.

Alecia Faye was born on April 28, 1948, in Galveston to the late Elliott H. and Johnnie Mae Bordelon Batiste. She attended school in Galveston, and was a 1968 graduate of CentralHigh School. She furthered her education by attending GalvestonCollege and received her Associate degree. Later moving to California she enrolled in the University of California, where she received her Bachelor degree and became a Registered Nurse. Alecia has served as a dedicated nurse of the Edgewater Retirement Community for over fifteen years. She was a member of the Heroines of Jericho, the Black Nurses Association   and the Mt Olive Baptist Church, where she served as an Usher until her health began to fail.

Left to cherish memories of her life are her daughters, Alycia Spriggins of Houston, Alphea Charli Charles-Horn and Alexis Charles Horn both of Galveston; her grandchildren, Elliott Spriggins, Tori Spriggins, Dimira Goudeau, Dynastee Horn and Tristan Goudeau; brothers, Henry Batiste, Sr. and Leonard Batiste; aunts, Dorothy Burke and Margie Edwards; uncle, George Batiste; nephews, Henry Batiste, Jr., Reginald Jordan and Derrick Batiste; niece, Felecia Jordan; son in law, Jamal Goudeau; devoted friends, Phyllis Fair-Bird, Toni Levine Simpson, Reagon Johnson, Barbara Williams, Cleo Douglas and the staff of the Edgewater community; a host of cousins, other relatives and friends.

Viewing will begin at 4PM on Friday, June 22nd followed by a wake service from 7-8 PM at E. R. Johnson Family Mortuary. A service celebrating her life will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Saturday, June 23, 2007, at the Mt. Olive Baptist Church with Pastor Norris D. Burkley, Sr. officiating. She will be laid to rest in LakeviewCemetery.
