Joerene Brooks, Jr. (Dumas), 53, passed away on Wednesday, June 20, 2007, at his home with his love ones by his side.


Joerene was born in
Galveston , Texas, on September 6, 1953. He is a graduate of BallHigh School class of 1973. He was employed by UTMB (GNA) Dept. and also Hotel Galvez. He was a member of SunlightBaptistChurch where he served on the Usher Board until his health failed.


He was preceded in death by his father, Joerene Brooks, Sr.; brother, Robert Brooks, Sr.; sister, Doris Brooks; father in-law, Milton Grant, Jr. and son in law, Ramon Norwood, Sr..


Left to cherish memories is his loving and devoted wife of 22 years, Della Grant Brooks; daughters, Kizzie Norwood and Dominique Brooks; son, Joerene Brooks III; grandchildren, Raymone Norwood II, Katelynn Norwood and Darius Guilry; his mother, Mary Brooks; brothers, Freddie Brooks (Sharon), Leonard Brooks, Melvin Brooks (Renia), Larry Brooks, Alfred Brooks (Laura) Ernest Brooks (Cynthia); sisters, Ethel Tubbs (Wesley), Claudia Gillins (Rodney), Patricia Brooks Barbara Matthews (Kevin) and Jackie Brooks; brothers-in-law, John Grant (Preticha), Gerome Grant, James Grant and Milton Grant (Sherry); sisters-in-law, Sabrina Grant, Rosa Glover and Priscilla Grant; host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.


Viewing will begin at 4PM on Friday, June 29th, followed by a wake from 7-8PM at E R Johnson Family Mortuary. A service celebrating his life will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, June 30, 2007, at the
Sunlight Baptist Church with Pastor A. C. Tryon officiating. He will be laid to rest in LakeviewCemetery.
