Friendswood City Council on Monday voted 5-2, with Chris Peden and John LeCour opposed, to authorize a request for proposals to conduct a personnel pay plan study.
The city council voted 5-2, with Leslie Reid and Peden opposed, to endorse the reappointment of six members and one new appointment to the 13 member Galveston County United Board of Health. The reappointed members are: John Zendt, hospitality; Ben G. Raimer, MD, UTMB; Mary Anne Holcomb, municipality; Ted Hanley, Citizen-at-large; Milton Howard, DDS; Patricia Rogers, MD, citizen-at-large; and new member Paulette Robertson, RN.
The city council voted 6-1, with Reid opposed, to amend the City Code providing for alternate positions on the Planning and Zoning Commission.
The city council voted to authorize Mayor David Smith to execute a grant of $50,000 in an economic development agreement with Dr. Ronald Baden of EC Friendswood I, L.P. regarding a $4.9 million medical office facility to be located on a 1.6 acre tract at Winding Way.
The city council voted to accept maintenance responsibilities for the Monte Bello Subdivision, including streets, drainage and utilities a one year period.
The city council voted to approve funding for Phase II of the Clear Creek Floodway remapping.
The city council voted to amend the tax collections services agreement with the Galveston County Tax Assessor-Collector's office.
The city council voted to approve the appointment of Hassan Moghaddam to the Planning and Zoning Commission, to complete the unexpired term of Marcus Rives.
The city council voted to authorize the mayor to execute a $32,000 proposal from Lockwood, Andrews & Newnam, Inc. Engineering, for engineering services to design a storm sewer system, and to include the Greenbriar Drive area within the existing Glenshannon Drainage Project.
The city council voted to authorize the purchase of 4.2 acre-ft. of regional detention from the Galveston County Consolidated Drainage District for the Glenshannon Drainage Project.
Council Member LeCour requested to speak regarding naming the new Public Safety Building after Arden Hill.
All other agenda items were approved unanimously.
