Alton M. Chambers, Sr.

Alton M. Chambers, Sr.Alton M. Chambers, Sr., 70, received his reward of eternal rest on Monday, July 2, 2007, at UTMBHospital.

Alton
was born September 29, 1936, in Rosa, Louisiana to Joseph and Cornelius Lewis Chambers. He attended public school in Rosa and later moved to Galveston. He was a retired longshoreman with Local 1504.

He was preceded in death by his parents. He leaves to cherish memories a devoted wife, Jo E. Chambers; son, Alton Chambers, Jr. (Sarah); daughters, Cheryl Chambers, Patricia Petteway and Urann Flores (Frank); grandchildren, Lashonda, Chadrick, Ashley and Allison Petteway, Haley Chambers, Rick, Roshon and Monique Flores; great grandchildren, Jade Brown and Kendall Petteway; brother, Lester Chambers, Sr. (Henrietta); sisters, Gladys Clyde and Maude Gamble (Zeltee); host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Visitation will begin at 9AM on Saturday, July 7, 2007, at Holy Rosary Catholic Church. A rosary will be held at 9:45 a.m. prior to the funeral mass at 10:00 A.M. with Father Joseph Onuoha as celebrant. Burial will follow at Lakeview Cemetery.
