Mrs. Bertha Louise Monroe passed from this life Thursday morning, July 5, 2007, at her home.
Born August 27, 1929 in Galveston, Mrs. Monroe had been a longtime resident of Houston. She was of the Catholic faith, had worked as a meat wrapper for the Amalgamated Meat Cutters and Butcher Workman of North America since 1964 and was a member of the United Food and Commercial Workers International Union # 408. She enjoyed gardening and spending time with her grandkids.
Preceded in death by her parents, Carl and Bertha O’Connor, son, Billy B. Monroe and 6 siblings, survivors include her daughters, Charlene Hammer and Lila Bertrand, both of Houston; brothers, Freddy O’Connor and his wife, Connie of LaMarque, Rudy O’Connor of Texas City; sister, Marjorie Dickey of Cypress; 6 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be conducted 10:00 a.m. Saturday, July 7, 2007, in the chapel of Hayes Funeral Home, Reverend John Kappe officiating. Interment will follow at Galveston Memorial Park in Hitchcock.
Casketbearers will be Jeremy Ainsworth, John Falk, Freddy O’Connor and Rudy O’Connor.
