 Willie Jones, Sr., departed this life on Tuesday, July 24, 2007, at UTMBHospital.
Willie was born March 25, 1930, in Batesville, MS. He accepted Christ at an early age and was a deacon at East End Baptist Church in Birmingham, AL. He was a retired cook from U. S. Public Health Hospital, a former member of St. Lawrence Lodge and a member of St. John Baptist Church.
He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers. He leaves to cherish memories a devoted wife, Georgia Jones; son, Willie Jones, Jr. both of Galveston; daughters, Lillie Davis (Henry) of Texas City, Alma Parson of Galveston and Sharon Jones (Bobby) of Austin; grandchildren, Oliver Parson, Darnell Jones, Andrea Parson, Jennifer and Jessica Williams; three great grandchildren, Brianna, Kyianna and Castyianna Parson; brother, Ernest Sanders, Jr. and Clarence Sanders of Memphis, TN; sister, Alice Mae Sanders of Nashville, TN: special friends, Brenda and Donald Brown of Austin and special family, the Bonner family of Birmingham, New Jersey, California, Georgia and Ohio; host of other relatives and friends.
Visitation will begin at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, July 30, 2007, followed by a service celebrating his life at 11:00 a.m. at St. John Baptist Church with Pastor Louis Simpson, Jr. officiating. He will be laid to rest in LakeviewCemetery.
