Jean Evelyn Lindsey

Jean Evelyn Lindsey, 69, departed this life on Friday, July 27, 2007, at MainlandMedicalCenter in Texas City.
Jean was born January 31, 1938, in Wiergate, Texas, to Ira and Ethel Holmes Jenkins. She attended school in Beaumont and was a graduate of Charlton-PollardHigh School. She later moved to Galveston in 1956 and retired as a secretary from the Pediatrics Department of UTMB after 27 years of service. She loved listening to music, reading and being with her family.
She was preceded in death by her parents, two sisters and a brother. Left to cherish memories are her sons, Michael Lindsey of Hitchcock, TX, and Cre Lindsey (Karen) of Suffolk, VA; daughter, Ida Christian (Bill) of Galveston; stepson, Chris Phillips; stepdaughter, Sheryl Jackson; grandchildren, Shanvonda (Ricky), Payton, Cameron and Carlyn Lindsey, and Brittani Simpson; great grandchild, Alonzo Abraham; brother Curtis Jenkins of Temple, TX; sisters, Shirley Scott of Pontiac, MI; Ira Jones of Los Angeles, CA; Dora Jimmerson (Johnny) of Ontario, CA; and Eva Sauls (B.W.) of Temple, TX; devoted friends, Irma Lacey, Loren “Yoni” Benson and Joyce Scott; sisters-in-law, Thelma Neal and Joyce Miller; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Viewing will begin at 4PM on today, July 30th, followed by a wake from 7-8PM. A service celebrating her life will be held at 1:00 PM on Tuesday, July 31, 2007, in the chapel of E. R. Johnson Family Mortuary. She will be laid to rest in LakeviewCemetery.
