Larry Darnell Cooper “Lil Larry”

Larry Darnell Cooper “Lil Larry”Larry Darnell Cooper, 10, was summoned to join the heavenly host on Monday, July 30, 2007, at Mainland Medical Center in Texas City.

Lennis and Judith Cooper received this special blessing from heaven above on March 13, 1997, in Galveston, Texas, and he brought so much happiness into their lives. Larry had a love for sports and showed great promise of being an all around athlete in football, baseball, and basketball. On the field he was known to most of his friends as "Shorty Do Wop" because of his big smile and seriousness for the game.

During his time in playing Little League Baseball he accomplished three championships, one in T-Ball and two with the minor league Cardinals and Astros. He made the LM/WTC All - Star Baseball team for three years straight. He was a fourth grade student at Intercity Elementary and also served as a Youth Usher at Sunlight Missionary Baptist Church.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Leroy Cooper and Joy Cooper;  Isom C. Kelley; great- grandmother, Myrtle "Granny" Frazier;  and uncle, Larry Darnell Cooper.

He leaves behind his loving  parents and family, Lennis “Chico” and  Judith Cooper;  grandmother, Mrs. Tishie Kelley; aunts,  Linda Cooper;  Jeanette Elias (Lydell); Gwendolyn Crear, and Lisa Cooper; uncles,  Amos Crear, Jr. (Cherlyn); Lorenzo Cooper; LaVan Cooper (Rose), and Leroy Cooper (Icirean);  and a  host of cousins,  family, friends and  church family.

Viewing will begin at 4PM on today August 3rd followed by a wake from 7-8PM at E. R. Johnson Family Mortuary.  A service celebrating his life will be held at 1:00 PM on Saturday, August 4th at the SunlightBaptistChurch.  He will be laid to rest in LakeviewCemetery
