La Marque ISD asks community to help “Stuff the Bus”
School is just around the corner, and La MarqueIndependentSchool District needs its community’s help to ensure every child begins the year with the supplies they need.
LMISD is asking Cougar supporters to stuff a bus full of back to school supplies on Aug. 11. The bus will be stationed at Wal-Mart, 6410 Interstate 45, in La Marque. Shoppers and community members are encouraged to donate new school supplies for children in the district who are in need.
“Sending children back to school with supplies like crayons, pencils, pens and notebooks is very important,” said Superintendent Ecomet Burley. “Some parents cannot afford the basics, so this drive helps give all kids the opportunity to start the school year with the same advantage.”
New school supplies can be donated from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the bus or through Aug. 24 at the La MarqueISDAdministrationBuilding, 1727 Bayou Road, in La Marque.
Supply lists for elementary and middle school students are available online at the district’s web site,, in the Back to School section and will also be available at Wal-Mart. Supplies such as pens, pencils, paper and notebooks are needed for high school students.
“The Stuff the Bus supply drive is an easy and inexpensive way for the La Marque ISD community to make a huge difference for our children,” Burley said.
Donated supplies will be divided between all LMISD schools to be distributed to students once school begins Aug. 27.
