Carnes Brothers Funeral Home

Zola Luetta TempleZola Luetta Temple, age 93, of Galveston passed away, Sunday, August 5, 2007 at Turner Geriatric Center in Galveston. Funeral services will be held 11:00 am Saturday, August 11, 2007, at Spiritual True Church in Galveston, 2915 Ave. M 1/2, with the Reverend Joseph Franklin officiating. Burial will follow at BarboursCemetery in Hitchcock, under the direction of Carnes Brothers Funeral Home of Galveston. Visitation will be held from 4:00 pm until 6:00 pm Friday at the funeral home with visitation to continue at the church at 6:00 pm where a wake will be held from 7:00 pm until 8:00 pm Friday.

Zola was born February 1, 1914 in Orange, Texas to Sterling and Mittie Jones. She was a faithful member of the SpiritualTrueChurch in Galveston where her son The Reverend Jerry Temple is Pastor. She was the owner operator of the TempleCafé located at 27th and Church Street for many years before joining the American National Insurance Company in the Dinning Room where she retired. Mrs. Temple was a devoted mother and grandmother with a big heart for her children and grandchildren.

Zola is preceded in death by her husband, John Sullivan Temple, Sr., sons, John, Jr., and Bobby D.; brothers, Jack, Carey, Benny and Sterling Jones. Survivors include sons, Reverend Jerry Temple, Eugene, Aaron and Carey Temple, daughters, Lorraine Smith and Mary Rhodes, a sister, Abby Richards, 27 grandchildren, 57 great grandchildren and 27 great, great grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.
