Lamar to confer 340 degrees at summer commencement Aug. 18;
noted political science professor Davis to give keynote address 
  
BEAUMONT – Lamar University is scheduled confer about 340 degrees during summer commencement Saturday, Aug. 18.
           
Lamar alumnus Darren Davis, professor of political science at the University of Notre Dame, will be the keynote speaker for ceremonies beginning at 9:30 a.m. in the Montagne Center.  Davis, a Beaumont native and West Brook High School graduate, is hailed as a prolific scholar in political behavior, public opinion, political psychology and racial politics.
           
Among the degrees to be awarded are 10 doctorates – in audiology, deaf studies/deaf education, educational leadership, chemical engineering and engineering. Graduates hail from eight countries, seven states outside Texas and 44 cities in Texas. Here are Lamar’s summer degree candidates and their majors, listed according to their hometowns.
