Mary Ellen (Darney) KuhlMary Ellen (Darney) Kuhl died August 14, 2007 in Littleton, Co.

Mary Ellen was born July 29, 1926 in Galveston and was a long-time resident of the area. She was also a member of Queen of Peace Catholic Church in La Marque and a member of the choir.

Mary Ellen always had a passion for singing. She began voice lessons at an early age.  During WWII she entertained the troops with her beautiful soprano voice. Mary Ellen was well known in the area and sang at numerous weddings, church services and parties. She was also very involved with the Ursuline Alumnae and sang at many of their functions, her favorite being the Mary's Day Mass.

Mary Ellen was the owner of Kuhl’s Wedding Service for 31 years. She catered an array of weddings and parties throughout the county. Her crowning achievement was the 50th Wedding anniversary party she catered in 1997 for she and her husband, Willie.

Mary Ellen is preceded in death by her husband of 52 years, William C. (Willie) Kuhl; parents Bernard and Margaret (Sweeney) Darney; parents-in-law William J. and Estelle Kuhl; sister Patrica Plowman; sister-in-law Marie Kampe and nephew Bill Kampe.

She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law Ann Marie (Kuhl) and John Falbo; grandchildren John “William“, Christiana Marie and Jacob Alexander Falbo of Littleton, Co.; sisters Marjorie (Margie) Macklin of Galveston and Clara Kay Wallstein of Spring; brothers-in-law Richard Macklin of Galveston and Chick Plowman of Santa Fe; nieces and nephews Jamie Plowman and wife Elise also of Santa Fe; Bobby Macklin of Hitchcock, Cathy (Wallstein) and husband Ernie Pyle of Spring, Diane (Macklin) Malloy, Tricia (Wallstein) White and husband Micah Harden of Spring, Danny Macklin and wife Becky of Dayton , Sylvia (Seymour) Kampe of Katy, Jim Kampe and Karen Kampe of Ohio; many great-nieces, nephew, cousins and friends.

Mary Ellen’s family will receive visitors after 5:00 pm, Sunday, August 19th, at Malloy & Son Funeral Home.  There will be a rosary celebrating her life at 6:00 pm. 

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 am Monday, August 20th, at Queen of Peace Catholic Church in La Marque. Entombment will follow at Calvary Cemetery in Galveston.

Pallbearers will be Jamie Plowman, Bobby Macklin, Danny Macklin, Jared Pyle, Jordan Pyle, and Ricky Malloy.

Honorary Pallbearers will be Bob Moore, Richard Macklin, Bobby Hubbell, Chick Plowman, and Lance Plowman.

Donations may be made to the Ursuline Alumnae Association or to Queen of Peace Catholic Church.
