Annette Denise Ballard lived by and believed in the words in these songs and quotes. Annette was born November 9, 1968, to Sam Ballard, Jr. and Joyce Scurry Harris in Galveston, Texas. She was a 1988 graduate of BallHigh School, and attended GalvestonCollege. Annette was a dedicated employee of GalvestonIndependentSchool District for fourteen years and was also a member of the Mt Olive Baptist Church.
She was the granddaughter of the late Willie C. Scurry, Mary Fisher Scurry, Laura Bell Martin and Sam Ballard, Sr., and great granddaughter of Maggie Fisher.
Annette leaves with cherished memories, a son, Shavon J. Ballard of Galveston; her parents; brother, Reginald E. Ballard (Edith); nephew, Ahamad Ballard; niece, Maleehah Ballard all of Pasadena, CA; play brother, Eddie “Tuffy” Filer (Patricia); stepfather, Michael Petteway both of Galveston; great aunt, Ida Marshall; aunts, Doris Scurry Kennedy, Addie Block, Ruby Howard, Loretta Watkins and two devoted aunts, Maggie Shabazz (Jama) and Debra Jackson (Norris); uncles, Ben Ballard (May), Charles Ballard, Reginald Scurry (Magnolia) and Sherman Scurry; cousins, Khalil Shabazz, Gwynetheia Harris, Jameelah Allen (Robert), Marcia McKell, Dontaye Stanley, Carlton Ballard, Briget Mitchell, Sophie Scurry and Shawn Scurry; two devoted cousin, Verlica Randle (Ken), Annette Collins(Teddy); special person, Timothy Epps; devoted friend, Cynthia Phillips; her Alamo School family and many other beloved cousins and friends.
Annette received her reward of eternal rest on Thursday, August 16, 2007, at her residence surrounded by her family.
Viewing will be held on today August 17th from at E. R. Johnson Family Mortuary. A service celebrating her life will be held at on Saturday, August 18, 2007, at the Mt.OliveBaptistChurch with Pastor Norris D. Burkley, Sr. officiating. She will be laid to rest in LakeviewCemetery.
