Dorothy Claire “Dot” Felis, 82, of Galveston, passed away Monday, August 20, 2007, at her residence.
Her family will receive visitors after 5:00 pm, Thursday, August 23rd, at Malloy & Son Funeral Home. A funeral service will be held at 7:00 pm, led by Father Brendan Murphy, SVD. Burial will be held in Mobile, Alabama.
Dot was born July 10, 1925 in Mobile, Alabama. Ms. Felis was a 32-year employee of UTMB. She began her career at UTMB in nursing and spent many years as a head nurse in the Department of OB/Gyn. Before her retirement she was an Executive Director for Hospital Administration.
She was a capable administrator, a compassionate health care provider and faithful to her profession, her religion and her friends. Her compassion for others was evident in both her professional and personal life.
Dot was preceded in death by her parents, Nicholas and Theresa Felis, and her brother, John D. “Jack” Felis.
She is survived by her beloved companion, Bobbye Rouse, MD, of Galveston; sister, Mary Ellen Diez and husband, Charles, of Englewood, Florida; nieces, Patty Reaves and Mary Ann Floyd; nephews, Michael and Nick Diez; and cousins, Mitzi Wolforth and Rita Skidmore.
