Sylvia Alexander Lee “Big Mama”Sylvia Alexander Lee, 66, received her reward of eternal rest on Tuesday, August 21, 2007 at UTMBHospital.

Sylvia was born on November 27, 1940, in Galveston, Texas to the union of Joseph C., Sr., and Charlotte Moore Alexander. A devoted mother and grandmother, she was a member of the West Point Baptist Church, and also a member of the Eastern Stars, Heroines of Jericho and the City Wide Mission.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Frank Lee; brother, Joseph Alexander, Jr.; sisters, Ruth Petteway; Opal Alexander; Doris Hill; Virgie Taylor, and Annette Mason.

She leaves with cherished memories, her sons, Albert Mitchell, Andre Mitchell, and Metric Mitchell all of Galveston, and Samuel Lee of Texas City; daughters, Charlotte Hockley; Sallie Smith (Ed); Virgie Mitchell and, Carrie Mitchell all of Galveston; 33 grandchildren; sisters, Elerene Frederick of Houston, and Aline Guyton of Galveston; special friends, Rev. J. J. Hilton; Rose Pitts; Bertha Minor; Mr. and Mrs. Warren Alexander; and a host of nieces, nephews other relatives and friends.

Visitation will be held from 4-8 p.m. on Monday, August 27th at E R Johnson Family Mortuary. A service celebrating her life will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, August 28, 2007, at the West PointBaptistChurch with Pastor Kerry W. Tillmon officiating. She will be laid to rest in Grace Memorial Park Cemetery in Hitchcock, TX.
