Houston, Texas -- Former Congressman and City Councilman Dr. Shelley Sekula Gibbs will be the featured speaker at the September 18 meeting of the Clear Lake Republican Club, at 7:30 p.m., at the Harris County Courthouse Annex, 16603 Buccaneer, Clear Lake City. She is an announced candidate to retake the Congressional District 22 seat in 2008.
At the August meeting of the Clear Lake Republicans, the speaker was State Representative Robert Talton, who stated that he would not run for re-election to the Texas House, but would file for the Republican Nomination for Congressional District 22 in the 2008 primary.
He reviewed his years in the Texas House of Representatives, his strong conservative record, and his position on current issues.
Also at the August meeting, the club held it's election of officers.
Larry Tobin was re-elected as President, Jon Keeney was elected as 1st Vice President, Dennis Paul as 2nd Vice President, Latane Lamb as Special Projects Director, Mark Reiff as Director of Public Information, Richard Risinger as Secretary, and Joe Spence as Treasurer.
The public is invited to join club members on the third Tuesday night of each month, on the second floor of the courthouse annex, for light refreshments beginning at 7 p.m. and the meeting to follow in the Justice of the Peace Court Room at 7:30 p.m.
