Wilburn K. Wood, 81, of Galveston, passed away Saturday, September 15, 2007, at UTMB Hospital.
Funeral service will be 10:00 am, Tuesday, September 18th, at Malloy & Son Funeral Home with Randy Miller officiating. Burial will follow the service at Calvary Cemetery.
The family will receive visitors from 5:00 until 7:00 pm, Monday, September 17th, at Malloy & Son Funeral Home.
Wilburn was born April 4, 1926, in Orange, Texas, but was a resident of Galveston since 1949. He served his country during the Korean Conflict and worked as a machinist for Todd Shipyard. He was a member of the Machinist Union #6.
He was preceded in death by his parents; stepson, Marvin Hanson; and stepdaughter, Marie Marsh.
Wilburn is survived by his wife of 54 years, Gertrude Wood; grandchildren: Oscar Hanson and wife, Darlene; Elizabeth Harris and husband, John; Chris Masciocchi; Cathy Marsh; Cheryl Ann Carson; and Jan Brown; and great grandchildren: Jessica Geiger, Oscar Hanson, Jr.; Sean Hanson; and Reginald Prusak.
