Nellie Gonzalez

Nellie GonzalezNellie Gonzalez, age 82, passed away Friday, September 21, 2007 at Gulf Health Care Nursing Center. She was born in Galveston, Texas on March 16, 1925. She was a life-long member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church. Her passions were baking, sewing, and crocheting. She was a very compassionate friend to everyone, especially in the nursing home, and she always made sure she called her brothers and sisters daily to make sure that everyone was well.
 
She was preceded in death by her parents Carlos and Margarita Mejia; brothers Charlie Mejia, Louis Mejia and Jesse Mejia; sister Margaret Mejia; and son Johnny Moya, Sr.
 
She is survived by her sisters Dorothy Mejia and Mary Alvarado; brothers Julius Mejia and Joe Mejia; 5 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
 
Visitation will be held on Monday, September 24, 2007 at J. Levy & Termini Funeral Home from 5:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M. with a Rosary to be held at 6:00 P.M., with Deacon Robert Standridge officiating.  A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Tuesday, September 25, 2007 at 2:00 P.M. at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, with Father Brendan Murphy officiating. Interment will follow at Calvary Cemetery.
 
Pallbearers will be family members as well as close friends of the family.
