Inez Pevateaux TannerInez Pevateaux Tanner, 84 of The Woodlands, died on Saturday, September 22, 2007 at Silvarado Senior Living Center in The Woodlands, Texas. A memorial  service will be held AT 6:00 pm, Wednesday, September 26, 2007 at Carnes Brothers Funeral Home, 1201 Tremont, Galveston, Texas.

Inez was born January 29, 1923 to Haynes and Pearl Metzler Pevateaux in Spring, Texas. Inez was a long time teacher in the Spring ISD following in her mother’s footsteps. She was appointed to fill Charlie Koch’s term for Mayor of Jamaica Beach at his death in April, 1982 and was elected to the position and served until 1984 when they moved away. She was also president of several professional organizations.

Preceded in death by her parents and her husband, Robert C. Tanner in 2003, Inez is survived by her brothers-in-law James Tanner and wife, Lena and R. Gene Tanner and wife Nannette; niece Judy Tanner, Tiffany Shafer and Terri Brown; nephew Richard Tanner, Jr.; nieces, Donna Theiss, Marsha Williams, Sandra Kinnebrew and nephews Harold Pena Teaux, Jacob Brown and many friends.

Donations may be made in Inez’s memory to Alzheimer’s Association, Houston & Southeast Texas Chapter, 2242 W. Holcombe Blvd., Houston, Texas 77030-2008.
