Doris Marie Tatum

Doris Marie Tatum, age 83, went home to be with Jesus Christ on Sunday, October 28, 2007. She was born on February 1, 1924 in Nacogdoches, Texas to W.F. Fletcher and Josie Garner. She graduated from Stephen F. Austin College with a B.S. Degree and received a Master’s Degree at Prairie View A & M. Doris taught school in Silsbee, Beaumont and Vidor, Texas. After retiring from teaching, she moved to Crystal Beach with her late husband Judson Tatum.
The love that she shared brings comfort to her sons Rodney Tarrant, Jake Tatum, John Tatum and wife Linda; daughters Donna Tarrant and Sally Tatum; and granddaughter Tracey.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, October 31, 2007 from 5:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M. at Bay Vue Methodist Church in Crystal Beach, Texas. Family and friends will come together and celebrate her life on Thursday, November 1, 2007 at 10:00 A.M. at Bay Vue Methodist Church, with Reverend Jeff Craft and Reverend Bill Navarre officiating. Interment will follow at the Crystal Beach Cemetery.
The family would like to thank Hospice and a host of dear friends who supported Doris with compassion and love throughout her illness. She will be missed by all who loved and knew her. Doris had a love for life and above all was a wonderful mother. She will live forever in our hearts.
