Effie Jean Bluitt

Effie Jean Bluitt was born into this world on February 21, 1932, to the union of Walter and Virgie Henderson in Redwater, Texas.  After moving to Galveston at a young age she united with Carter temple C.M.E Church where she served faithfully  until our Heavenly Father called her home.  Her services to the church included the Missionary Society, Board of Christian Education, Women Ministry, Sunday School, Bible Study and any other area where she was needed.  Mrs. Effie, as she was affectionately called, had a special loving, caring and open heart to all that knew her.  She shared her motherly touch with everyone, particularly, young people.
Effie departed this life suddenly on Tuesday, October 30, 2007, at the University of Texas Medical Branch in Galveston.  She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Mack Bluitt; stepson, Leroy Bluitt; stepdaughter, Maxine Bluitt and two infant grandsons.
She leaves to cherish her legacy four sons, Larry Henderson; Ronald Carter (Sheila); Michael Bluitt (Myra) all of Galveston and James Henderson (Mary ) of Texarkana, Texas; daughters, Roberta Bogan (Henry); Winifred Bluitt Victoria and Mary Bluitt Wilson; sisters, Walter Dell Howard; Jessie G. Johnson (Tony); brothers, Leon Henderson (Hazel) and Virgil Henderson (Nancy);  aunt, Lois Collins (Nathaniel); uncle, Clifford Holloway (Pauline).  She is also survived by nine grandchildren; Dwayne Henderson; Nicole Bluitt; Leticia Carter; Tanya Rogers; Mysha Bluitt; Sheronda Carter; Jameka Henderson; James Henderson Jr.; Anthony Joseph; Jacobi Bluitt;  Mateo Womack; and Melriah Hampton; great-grandchildren; Mario Flores Jr.; Daniel Flores; Chelsea Flores; Anasia Jones; Quintince Bloom Jr.; and Marcellus Turner; devoted friends; Lela Collins; Larry Fox and a host of nephews, nieces, other relatives and friends.
Visitation will be held from 12 noon to 7:00 p.m. on Sunday, November 4, 2007, at Wynn Funeral Home.  There will be no wake.
Our Beloved Angels Homegoing Celebration will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, November 5, 2007 at Carter Temple C.M.E. Church.  Reverend Charles H. Webster will officiate.   Burial will follow at Memorial Cemetery in Galveston.
