Ida Lee Thomas
E. R. Johnson Family Mortuary
Ida Lee Thomas, 72, received her reward of eternal rest on Tuesday, October 30, 2007, at the Clear Lake Regional Heart Hospital in Webster.
Mrs. Ida was born October 4, 1934 in Many, LA to O.D. and Modis Stewart Gipson. She attended school in Many and later moved to Galveston where she remained a longtime resident before moving to Dickinson with her daughter. She was formerly employed with GISD for ten years before retiring from UTMB after fifteen years of service. Her favorite things were shopping and spending time with her grandkids.
She leaves to cherish her life, sons, Ira Gipson; Kenneth “Two Way’ Thomas; Jerry Thomas (Peaches) all of Galveston; Robert Thomas and Arthur Thomas (Stephanie) both of Texas City; daughters, Debra Thomas Alston (Terrell) of Dickinson; Pam Thomas Chavis (Herb) of Port Arthur; stepdaughter, Josette Birdow of LaMarque; goddaughter, Patricia Graves of Hitchcock; 16 grandchildren; 8 great grandchildren; brother, C D Gipson of Many, LA; sisters, Rosa Coleman of Houston and Mae Bell Fobbs of Dallas; a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Special thank goes to the Clear Lake Regional Hospital CCU unit, and Eumana Home Dialysis for all of their support.
Viewing will begin today Tuesday, November 6
th
followed by a wake from 7-8 p.m..
A service celebrating her life will be held on Wednesday, November 7, 2007 at 11:00 a.m. in the chapel of E. R. Johnson Family Mortuary with Rev. N.D. Burkley, Sr. officiating. She will be laid to rest in Mainland Memorial Cemetery in Hitchcock.
