Eileen Veditz LaytonEileen Veditz Layton, daughter of Theodore and Margaret Veditz, born July 17, 1922, passed away November 4, 2007 at Kingwood Hospital after a courageous battle with ovarian cancer. Eileen was born in Amsterdam, New York, but Galveston Island is where she called home and raised her four sons, with her former husband, Robert Layton, Galveston’s first city manager.

 

Eileen was a successful real estate broker in Galveston for over 20 years as an associate with Bob Bisbey, having multiple million dollar sales years in the late 60’s and 70’s as a certified master broker and a member of the Galveston Board of Realtors.

 

Survivors include four sons, David Layton of Conroe, Phillip Layton of Houston, Brent Layton of Clear Lake, and Mark Layton of Virginia Beach, Virginia: six grandsons: Jonathan, Hunter, Bryan, Alan, Alexander and Evan; and a daughter-in-law; Claudia Vaiani Layton, wife of Phillip.

 

Eileen’s family will receive visitors beginning at 1:00 pm, Saturday, November 17th, at Malloy & Son Funeral Home.  A memorial celebration of Eileen’s life will be held at 2:00 pm, with Eileen’s sons and grandsons in attendance, and Rev. Lillian Hyde officiating.  Everyone who was touched by Eileen’s kindness and generosity are invited to attend.  Interment will be at Forest Park East Cemetery in Webster.
