Willard “Jeffery” Elzia

Willard “Jeffery” Elzia, 82, received his reward of eternal rest on Saturday, November 3, 2007, at the Bay Oak Care Center in Texas City.
Willard was born on July 28, 1925, in Iberia Parish, LA, to the union of David and Mary Elzia. He later moved to Texas where he made Galveston his home. He was retired from the City of Galveston Street Dept. and was also a member of the Progressive Baptist Church of Galveston.
He was preceded in death by his parents, wife Lillian Elzia; three sisters, Orilia Hill, Cleotha and Rebecca Elzia.
Left to cherish memories is one son, Roy Lee Lane (Eunice) of Austin, TX; daughters, Mary Ann Thibodeaux of Rochester, NY; Kinshara Guy (Harry) of Texas City; stepdaughter, Clara Kimbrough (Leroy) of Hitchcock, TX; brother, Willie Dupree (Annie Mae) of New Iberia, LA; 25 grandchildren, 15 great grandchildren, 8 great great grandchildren; Cliff Glenn who he raised as a son; devoted sister in law, Lillie Alexander (Warren); special friend, Anne Moody; devoted provider, Rodney Jones; a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends
Viewing will begin at 4 p.m. on Friday, November 9th, followed by a wake from 7-8 p.m. at E. R. Johnson Family Mortuary. Homegoing service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, November 10, 2007, at the Progressive Baptist Church in Galveston with Pastor W. E. Stevens officiating. Burial will follow at Lakeview Cemetery.
