Leslie Leon Little
Hayes Funeral Home

Leslie Leon Little died peacefully at his home on Sunday morning, November 11, 2007, surrounded by his family. 

He was born to Leslie Leon and Minnie Lee Little, Sr. in 1935 and moved to Galveston County as a young boy.  After graduating from Santa Fe High School, he married his high school sweetheart, Johnnie Hechler in 1954.  Leon was a 50-year member of the Ironworkers Local #135 and was a charter member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles Aerie #3789 for 31 years, having served as Past Worthy President.  He was also a 30-year member of the Alvin Masonic Lodge #762 AF & AM.  In his early years, he liked to run his fox hounds in the Big Thicket near Cleveland, Texas, play his guitar and harmonica and he avidly loved to shrimp and fish.

Leon is preceded in death by his parents and sisters, Shirley Hadley and Marilyn Patterson.  He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Johnnie, three daughters, Diana Bartula (Pat) of Clear Lake, Wanda Wagner (Dennis) and Jayne Little of Santa Fe, and sister, Suzie Beaver (Henry) of Crockett, Texas.  He is also survived by grandchildren Amy Rundell (David) of Atlanta, Georgia, Brian Clark of Clear Lake, Vince Wagner (Heather), Jason Wagner (Deidre), Wyndee Walker (John) of Santa Fe, great-grandchildren, Max, Molly, Vince, Shelby, Emma, Jason, Trenton, Emmett and Chase, and numerous sisters-and brothers-in-law, nieces, nephews and cousins.

Visitation for family and friends will be from 5 - 8 p.m. Wednesday, November 14, 2007, at Hayes Funeral Home, 10412 Hwy 6 in Hitchcock. 

Funeral Services will be 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, November 15, 2007, at Hayes Funeral Home with Reverend John Kappe officiating.  Interment will follow at Grace Memorial Park in Hitchcock with Masonic committal rites under the auspices
of John Mitchell Lodge #1401 AF & AM.

Pallbearers will be Brian Clark, Dick Hadley, Gerald Hadley, Terry Hadley, Jason Wagner and John Walker.  Honorary bearer will be Vince Wagner.

The family wishes to express a special thank you to the Hospice Care Team for their care and compassion given during his illness.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Hospice Care Team, 1708 Amburn, Suite C, Texas City, Texas 77591.
