Historic Lynchburg Ferry Gets New Holiday Lights
Harris County Precinct Two Commissioner Sylvia R. Garcia will be joined by The Texas Army Ceremonial Detail, a children’s choir from J.D. Walker Community Center, the band from Gentry Junior High of the Goose Creek ISD and, of course, Santa and Mrs. Claus in the annual lighting of the historic Lynchburg Ferry on the Monday night following Thanksgiving.
The event, now in its fifth year, is sponsored by the engineering firm of Bury & Partners. Refreshments will be provided by The Monument Inn and handed out by volunteers from The Pilot Club of Highlands.
“We have been able to add a little something each year to make the spirit more festive on the ferries and the landings,” Garcia said. “Not only has the Texas Army Ceremonial Detail agreed to join us this year, but we are tweaking our lighting to make everything look even more special.”
The celebration will begin at 6:00 p.m. with the actual lighting immediately following sunset.
Photographs with Santa, provided by A&A Photography, will be available for children.
The event is scheduled for 6:00 p.m. – 7:30 p.m. on Monday, November 26th at the North Landing of the Lynchburg Ferry which is located at 1001 S. Lynchburg Road.
