Comments on the Passing of Colonel William E. Lobit
by Michael Bennett
Friday, November 23, 2007
I just read of the passing of Colonel Lobit. (
Obituary
)
My father, 1st Lt. Irving Bennett (photo), was with the 5th Cavalry Regiment (D Troop) and commanded a heavy machine gun platoon.
He was in the 1st wave that landed on Los Negros on February 29, 1944 and fought alongside Colonel Lobit.
My father was my hero. He passed away on June 13, 2004.
Could you please forward my condolences to Colonel Lobit's family.
Respectfully,
Michael Bennett
