Seventeenth Annual Advent Pilgrimage
News Announcement
Wednesday, November 28, 2007

The Seventeenth Annual Advent Pilgrimage among Galveston's five downtown churches is set for Sunday, December 16th from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. The event combines all the fun of old-fashioned caroling with a tour of the Island’s historic downtown churches, all decorated for the season.

The pilgrimage will begin at First Presbyterian Church, located at 19th and Church, at 4:00 p.m. After a scripture lesson, prayer, and carols, the pilgrimage continues on to Saint Mary’s Cathedral Basilica, First Baptist Church, and Trinity Episcopal for similar devotions. First Lutheran Church, 2415 Winnie, will conclude the pilgrimage with a devotion and grand reception.

For those participants who would prefer not to walk from church to church, transportation will be provided by the Edgewater Retirement Community. Security will also be present along the pilgrimage route.

“Advent is the Church’s season to prepare for Christmas,” noted the Reverend Doug Guthier, Pastor of First Lutheran Church. “I can’t think of a more fun and festive way to keep Advent than to be a part of this year’s pilgrimage!” For more information, contact First Lutheran Church at 409.762.8477.
