Guadalupe Rhodes “Wally” Perez age 78 of Galveston died Saturday, December 1, 2007 at Turner Geriatric Center in Galveston. Funeral services will be 7:00 pm Wednesday, December 5, 2007 at Carnes Funeral Home in Texas City with his nephew the Reverend Able Perez, officiating. The family will receive visitors at the funeral home from 5:00pm until 8:00pm on Wednesday.
Guadalupe was born January 26, 1929 in Weslaco, Texas to Pedro and Alicia Rhodes Perez. He was a longshoreman working with the ILA Local # 20 for over 21 years. He was of the Catholic Faith and a very good father to his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. He enjoyed watching TV shows and movies and was an avid Wrestling Fan. He enjoyed going to Miller’s Landing everyday to visit with his many friends.
Preceded in death by his parents, brothers, Pedro and Robert, and sister Ida , grandsons, Daniel and Zachary, survivors include his daughter, Elida Morales and husband John of Texas City and son, Sgt. Wally Perez, USMC and wife Jennifer of Pearland; daughters, Carmen Gomez and husband Edward, Penny Perez, Belinda Zepeda and husband Lawrence, Sr. all of Galveston, Elida Stark and husband James of Texas City, and Anita Compian of LaMarque; son, Cruz Ojeda of Galveston, mothers of his children, Mary Diaz of Galveston and Anita Aguirre of LaMarque, special niece and nephew, Janie and Able Perez and daughters, Kimberly and Melissa of Edinburgh, Texas grandchildren, Lawrence, Jr., Fidel, Miguel, Melanie and fiancé William, Celina and David, Natalie and Sam, Jennifer and Jason, Marcus, Stephanie and husband Jeff Michael, Isaac, Kristy and fiancé, Andrew Mejia, Alyssa, Victoria, Tiffany, Matthew, Jayson, Luis, Gabriela and Lauren, great grandchildren, Lawrence, III, Breanna, Joey, William Anthony, Raquel, Samantha, Mariah, Carlos, Jeffrey, Xavier, Nicholaus, Katelynn, Jasmine, Jason, Sam Jr., and Julianna.
In loving memory of our father a hard working man, who was always there for his family, the family would like to thank everyone for their love and support during this time of our fathers passing. He is loved and will be deeply missed by his family and many friends. The family would like to thank the staff at Turner for their excellent care provided Mr. Perez during his time of residency at Turner Geriatric Center.
