John Mack, Sr.
E. R. Johnson Family Mortuary

John Mack, Sr.On the morning of December 3, 2007, John Mack, Sr., earthly journey and fruitful life ended at UTMB Hospital.

John blessed this earth with his birth to Reidie J. Mack and Beulah Nelson on September 6, 1928, in Galveston, Texas. He attended Galveston public schools and graduated from Central High School with the Class of 1945. He went on to attended college at Southern University, and later joined the U. S. Marine Corps. John was a faithful member of both the VFW Post # 15045 and The American Legion - Post #614.  His love for athletic sports led to his Honorary Life Membership in the Southwest Officials Association.  During the course of his adult life, he was a 30 year retiree of the U. T. M. B., and he was a loyal employee of the Galveston Limousine Service during his golden years.  He had a great love for life, family and friends.

John was preceded in death by his parents; son, John Mack, Jr.; brothers, Tim, Reidie, and Oscar Mack, and sister, Cotelle Celestine.
 
He is survived by his wife, Elizabeth Mack; daughters, JoAnna Taylor and Sharon Alcee; granddaughters, Neva Taylor, and Nicole Mack; and grandsons, Eric and Trenton Alcee;  great grandchildren; sister-in-laws, Juanita Mack; Aurelia Mack; Delores Barbee; BeBe Brown; Novella White, and Joan White; brother- in-law, Al Brown; son-in-laws, Willie B. Taylor, and Frederick Alcee; devoted friends, Marilyn Judge, Andrew Pierce, Barbara Hines Florence Smith, Lola Johnson, Noto, and Fred Turner; a large host of nieces, nephews, and many very special relatives and friends.

Viewing will begin at 4PM on Tuesday, December 11th, followed by a wake from 7-8PM at E. R. Johnson Family Mortuary.

A service celebrating her life will be held at 11:00 AM on Wednesday, December 12, 2007, at Grace Episcopal Church (1115 36th St.) with Rev. Helen Appleburn officiating. Entombment will follow at Lakeview Cemetery Mausoleum.
