Della Pearl Murphy
E. R. Johnson Family Mortuary

Della Pearl MurphyDella Pearl Murphy, 77, entered into eternal rest on Tuesday, December 11, 2007, at her residence.
 
Mrs. Murphy was born January 11, 1930, in Crockett, Texas, to the family of Roosevelt and Gertrude Griffin Taylor. She was a member of Wesley Tabernacle United Methodist Church where she has served as the past president of Usher Board II, with the Stewart Board, and with the United Methodist Women. She was a graduate of Kennard High School; retired from the maintenance and operations departments of GISD. She had an entrepreneur spirit working as a seamstress, florist, and the owner of the 29th Street Cafe.
 
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, James Murphy; sister, Fannie Pierre; brother, Harold Taylor; daughter-in-law, Cynthia Taylor; and son-in-law, Sam Charles.
 
She leaves with cherished memories, sons Roosevelt Taylor, James Murphy; daughters, Phyllis Moore (M.G.); Lynda Kaye Murphy; Millicent Stephens (Richard); Priscilla Murphy, and JoAnn Charles; 17 grandchildren; 15 great grandchildren; sister, Eva Jean Ross; uncle, Willis Griffin; aunt, Nita Wooten; special nephew, Willie Duncan (Idella); special nieces, Essence Daugherty, and Louella Goffney; a host of other close nieces and nephews; brother-in-law, Offie D. Ross; sisters-in-law, Iceola Dixon, Olivia Gurin, Ernestine Mills (Jimmy), and Ada Murphy; devoted friends, Louis Jammer, Mr. and Mrs. Richard Clark and family, Charlie Baldwin, and her Wesley Tabernacle Church Family.
 
The family would like to thank Tower 5D and staff; Tower 10 C & D staff; and the Hospice Care Team, for the loving care of our mother. Special thanks to Dr. Mark D. Holden, Dr. Loretta Grumbles, Dr. Anderson, Dr. Huelen E. Smith Jr., nurse administrator Deborah Jones, nurse manager Jean Ann Glass, Rev. Henry Hynson.

Visitation will take place from 4-8:00 p.m. on today, December 14th, at the chapel of E. R. Johnson Family Mortuary. A service celbrating her life will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, December 15, 2007, at Wesley Tabernacle United Methodist Church with Rev. Henry Hynson officiating. Burial will follow at New Hope Cemetery in Kennard, Texas.
