Beaumont, TX -- Downtown Beaumont will be alive with the Mardi Gras spirit this February. The extravagant parades and celebrations are set for Friday, February 1 and Saturday, February 2, 2008. Food vendors, entertainment, parades, a carnival and exciting activities will be part of the celebration.
The City of Beaumont has recently made major improvements and beautified its downtown, making it a perfect backdrop for the Mardi Gras festivities. More than 10,000 revelers took part in last years vent which was the 5th Mardi Gras celebration in the newly renovated downtown area.
The excitement begins on Friday night with a parade at 6:00 pm. Saturday will feature two parades. The 4:00 p.m. Kids & Pet Parade is sure to be a sight with kids in wagons, on foot and with their pets. It will be followed by another parade at 6:00 p.m. All parades will travel down Orleans and Pearl streets and end at Crockett and Main Street.
The night-time parades will feature floats with local crews, marching bands, dance teams, motorcycles, classic cars and much more. Parades Unlimited will organize the Beaumont Mardi Gras parades. All of downtown will be buzzing. Live music and family fun activities as well a food court will all be located near the Art Museum of Southeast Texas and the Jefferson Theatre. Exciting sounds will fill the air with outdoor concerts at the Crockett Street Entertainment District.
