Eliza Jane Jackson

Eliza Jane JacksonEliza Jane Jackson was born January 7, 1909, to the late Jim and India Walker. She received her education in the Huntsville Independent School District in Huntsville, TX. Sister Jackson accepted Christ at the age of twelve (12) uniting with Wesly Grove Baptist Church.  She later moved her membership uniting with First Baptist Church under the pastoral leadership of  Pastor Woodale.

Sister Jackson moved to Galveston, Texas to work with her nephew. She met and married the late Jerome Jackson and became a member of the West Point Baptist Church under the leadership of the late Rev. J. F. Sargent. During her time at West Point, she served as a Sunday School teacher, member of the Mission, and the Pastor’s Aide Ministry. She served faithfully until her health failed. She also served as a member of the Eastern Star.

Sister Jackson received her reward of eternal rest on Thursday, December 27, 2007, at her residence.  She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; and two sisters.

Left to cherish memories, is her loving step-daughter, Marine Jones (Benny) of Houston, TX; granddaughter, Marcella “Marcie” Jones Strahan (Steve) of Houston, TX; niece, Idell Guidry (Lloyd) of Hitchcock, TX; nephew, Leon Walker (Jane) of LaMarque, TX; two devoted great nieces, Bernice Walker of Atlanta, GA and Johnnie Shelby of Galveston, TX; a host of great-great-great nieces and nephews; four sisters-in-law; three brothers-in-law; a faithful and devoted brother-in-law, Clemis Jackson of Galveston, TX; God-daughter, Alicia Otems; a faithful friend, Clora Otems; her Pastor, Rev. Kerry W.   Tillmon and her West Point Baptist Church family; devoted health care providers, Dorothy Tarver; Henerrita Sykes, and Betty Greer; a host of other relatives and friends.

Visitation will begin at 10AM on Monday, December 31, 2007, followed by a service celebrating her life at 11:00 a.m. at the West Point Baptist Church with Pastor Kerry W. Tillmon officiating. She will be laid to rest next to her beloved Jerome in the Mt. Zion Cemetery in Huntsville, TX.
