The Nia Cultural Center's 19th Annual Kwanzaa Celebration was held on Saturday, December 29 at the Old Central Cultural Center. The event was a program of the Houston Area Kwanzaa Planning Committee.
Drum Call was by Majic of the Drum, the Welcome was by Sue Johnson, the Black National Anthem was led by Dr. Robinlyn Sayers, the Prayer was by Reverend Samuel Collins III, Libation was by Brother Banjoko, Candle Lighting was by Nia Youth, the Black Family Pledge was by Emmarene Mathews, William Yancy presented a Musical Selection, the Fountain of Praise Step Team performed a Step Routine, Reverend Collins delivered the Ujamaa Message and the Girls Rites of Passage performed an African Dance.
2007 Village Keeper Awards were presented to Ella Lewis, James Steadham, Reverend Reginald Gilford and Marie Freeman.
