Mary E. Barnett Mrs. Mary E. Barnett passed from this life Monday morning, January 7, 2008, in Crockett, TX.

Born September 13, 1918 in Magnolia, TX, Mrs. Barnett had been a resident of Crockett for 5 years, having previously lived in Arcadia for 39 years.  She has been a member of Arcadia First Baptist Church for 42 years where she served faithfully as Sunday school teacher, and any other position she was asked to fill.  She also served as church secretary for 23 years before retiring.  She enjoyed her work and friends in the church and serving her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.  Prior to moving to Santa Fe, she and her family resided in Pasadena for 15 years where we she served as secretary at South Avenue Baptist Church.  She took great pride in her children and grandchildren, always seeing to their needs and happiness.  She enjoyed spending her spare time quilting and visiting friends.

She was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 49 years, James A. Barnett; parents, William O. and Julia Ann (DuPree) Fritch; sister, Violet Daisy Walker.

Survivors include her son, Jimmy A. Barnett, Jr. of Alvin; daughter, Shirley Foss Dotson and husband, Jack of Grapeland; grandchildren, Jana Lynn Barnett, Darrel James Barnett, Judson Dewayne Foss; great-grandchildren, Brandy Nicole Brown and husband Terry, Caitlin June Barnett, Jessica Leigh Barnett, Lauren Ashley Foss, McKenna Leigh Foss; great-great granddaughter, Justyce Nicole Brown; brother, W. O. "Bill" Fritch, Jr. and wife, Carrie of Texas City.

Funeral services will be conducted at 10:00 a.m. Thursday, January 10, 2008, at Arcadia First Baptist Church with Dr. Rick Smith officiating.

Interment will follow at Forest Park East Cemetery under the direction of Hayes Funeral Home.

Casketbearers will be Arcadia First Baptist Church Deacons.

Friends may call from 5 - 8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home, 10412 Highway 6, Hitchcock (409) 925-3501.
